(and Gals)! Whaddya mean The Chipmunks bring back fond memories to the 25-35 -year-old crowd? This 63-year-old guy remembers when David Seville, who was Ross Bagdasarian in real life, and who was a part-time actor, created the Chipmunks in "The Chipmunk Song", put out by Liberty Records in 1957 (on 78-RPM vinyl). He recorded his voice at double-speed to create the effect. Prior to that, his first big hit was "The Witch Doctor" in 1956. You remember, "ooh-ee-ooh-ah-ah, ting tang, walla-walla-bing-bang", don't you? Bagdasarian, who died in 1972, also co-wrote Rosemary Clooney's big hit, "Come On-a My House ( I'm Gonna Give-a You Candy)" in the early 50's. For those of you who don't believe anything happened before you were born, Rosemary was George Clooney's aunt. So, there. I'm so glad I brought you all up to speed on the important issues of the day.
