Bob Bergen Interviewed on Platform Biased
July 24, 2008
The current voice of Warner Bros.’ Porky Pig, Bob Bergen, was interviewed on gaming podcast “Platform Biased” on July 18th, 2008, sharing news about recent voice acting for video games and also giving the podcast listeners a taste of his vocal talent and background story prominently featuring Mel Blanc.
Jeffrey Kafer, voice actor and one of three Platform Biased hosts, was delighted to speak with Bob Bergen about his character voice acting in animation and video games, neatly weaving in Bergen’s versatile entertainment career nicely with the gaming technology-themed podcast.
Throughout the interview, Bergen delivered phrases as Porky Pig, of course, leaving out the lines Porky is famous for as were first coined by character voice over legend, Mel Blanc, the Man of 1000 Voices.
Bergen emphasized that although being the voice of a highly recognizable cartoon character is a thrill, it’s also a privilege and an honor, relating that maintaining the integrity of the character is of paramount importance when performing as Porky Pig, acknowledging that he and his colleagues are in a great debt to those who went before them in character voice acting.
Platform Biased covers anything and everything to do with Xbox 360 and Games for Windows. All three hosts are Software Development Engineers in Test at Microsoft Game Studios
