VIEW Conference is the premiere international event in Italy for computer graphics, video games, cinema, 2D and 3D animation, and special effects.
The four day event takes place at the Centro Congressi in Torino, Italy from October 15th to 18th, 2013. The conference will explore the increasing fluidity between the real and digital worlds through lectures, meetings, tributes, exhibits, screenings and demo presentations. VIEW 2013 will “reveal the new digital frontier sweeping from cinema to architecture, from automotive design to advertising, from medicine to video games.”
The keynote speaker at the event is John Knoll, visual effects supervisor and chief creative officer at Industrial Light & Magic. Knoll is one of the original creators of Adobe Photoshop and is a well known leader in the world of visual effects and computer graphics. He will present ILM’s work on Guillermo del Toro’s film “Pacific Rim” and will share his knowledge with VIEW attendees during the annual conference.
Knoll is best known for his work as Visual Effects Supervisor on the Star Wars prequels and the 1997 special editions of the original trilogy. He also served as ILM’s visual effects supervisor for Star Trek Generations and Star Trek: First Contact, as well as the Pirates of the Caribbean series. Knoll earned the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects for his work on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.
The event will also feature talks from visual effects supervisors Roger Guyett and Erik Nash. A presentation of the latest Pixar film, Monster University with Sandra Karpman of department of Camera & Staging at Pixar is also confirmed. Karpman will unveil secrets of the making of the film with her presentation “The movements of the camera according to Pixar.” Karpman has worked on many other blockbuster animated feature films including; Cars, Ratatouille and Wall-E.
