Promoting and championing UK animation in its many shapes and forms, the British Animation Awards (BAA) will culminate in an awards ceremony and massive party held in central London.
The BAA’s honor the best in; Student Film, Short Film, Children’s Pre School Series, Children’s Series, Mixed Media Children’s Series, Commercial: 2D, Commercial: 3D, Film/TV Graphics, Animation: Long form, Best Commissioned Animation, and Best Voice Performance. New categories will include Best Animation in VFX and Best Motion Graphics.
The BAA’s are billed as the only awards program in the UK that recognizes all forms of animation, rewarding the work of both new and established animators for their work in short films, animated graphics for film and television, children’s series, music videos and commercials. Previous BAA winners include Tim Burton, Nick Park, Simon Tofield, Harry Potter, and the Gorillaz.
The popular BAA Stings competition is back for the 2014 ceremony. Student and professional applicants have an opportunity to present their talents to the cream of the crop at the awards ceremony. The Stings competition is open to students, recent graduates, hobby animators, and professionals. It’s basically open to anyone so long as they are 18 or over, delve in animation, and are currently based in the UK. To download the entry form visit www.britishanimationawards.com.
The British Animation Awards will be held at the British Film Institute on the South Bank of the River Thames in London, England on March 7th, 2012.
