Voices.com will be exhibiting at the SIGGRAPH conference and exhibition in Vancouver, British Columbia at the Vancouver Convention Centre, with the exhibition component taking place August 12th to the 14th. Voices is part of a delegation representing the province of Ontario.
SIGGRAPH’s commercial exhibition attracts hundreds of exhibitors from around the world. As in previous years, Voices.com staff will join their fellow delegates in the Ontario Pavilion and share about how SIGGRAPH attendees can incorporate voice-over more effectively in their productions.
Last year, Voices CEO David Ciccarelli drew a crowd at SIGGRAPH 2013 in Anaheim with his signature Google Glass. This year, the team will continue their focus on tech with an emphasis on the human voice and how its use impacts animation and film.
Voice-over talent are integral to most animated productions, whether it be a blockbuster animated film the likes of Disney’s Frozen or an independent work produced by animation students honing their craft. In the end, it isn’t just about artistry; it’s about storytelling and doing it well. As the late, great Don LaFontaine used to say, devote yourself to the service of the words.
Voices is one of the only companies representing audio at SIGGRAPH 2014, with the vast majority of exhibitors focusing on the visual aspect of animation. Their voice promises to add tremendous insight and a unique contribution to the conversation.
The Computer Animation Festival, which takes place during SIGGRAPH, is recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as a qualifying festival. Since 1999, several works originally presented in the Computer Animation Festival have been nominated for or have received a Best Animated Short Academy Award. Who knows what stories will make history this year?
